We went to San Antonio but I feel like we forgot something...

Last weekend we made the trip out to San Antonio. Its about 1 1/2 hours from Austin. It always surprises us when we leave the city limits that we "actually live in Texas." Austin just doesn't feel like the Texas I'd always heard about. But the rest of Texas certainly does!

Anyway, here is the highlights of San Antonio.

Yummy cheesecake fudge...

Down by the river it was SO much greener than anything we had seen since arriving in Austin

I found myself feeling safe among the old art-deco architecture. Part of me still belongs in New York I guess

Eric went straight from running 12 miles to jumping in the car... he was a little sore...

We had a fancy-shmancy dinner at Biga along the river walk. Eric was all Texan-Like and tried the quail and venison

My favorite was the desert with an entire layer of marshmallow!

In case you were starting to think Eric went to San Antonio alone... here I am!

(Next time we're there we will remember the Alamo)

I do feel bad that after living in Texas for 3 1/2 years we still haven't made the drive to San Antonio. I've been there once before but I also didn't visit the alamo. Those pictures make Texas seem amazing though.
Its funny that you think that about Austin because everyone around here and in Houston call Austin a mini California.
So you mentioned that Eric tried the Texan food but you didn't say what he thought of it. Hope it was good. We've found that most "real" Texan food is.
So fun that you're staying busy. And yes, I definitely think we'll have to get together soon. Can we plan on sometime in November? I was thinking maybe the 12th? Let me know how that works with your schedule.

Jill - I would love to get together soon! I think the 12th would work ok but it may be the service project our ward is planning for the Bastrop Fire area... I should know since I'm on the planning committee.... but i don't!I'll check and get back to you soon!
