The Longest Night of the Year - Traditions old, new and borrowed

This winter solstice we spent at home! We celebrated the longest night of the year with some very old traditions, s newer one and a borrowed one. We spent the evening making shortbread - my great-great grandmother's recipe she brought from Scotland.

Eric spent the time making homemade egg nog from a recipe borrowed from our brother-in-law. We aren't the biggest fans of egg nog around here but we are fans of this recipe! It may become a new family tradition!

And then we watched Prancer - a tradition from when I was a kid.

Is your shortbread recipe secret? If not, I'd love to have it. It looks like legit Scottish shortbread which I have been unable to make here for some reason. Buttery yum. Yes.
